submissions for EDGE

Submissions are now closed

EDGE is a literary journal published each year featuring provocative fiction, poetry, essays, and art. We appreciate a variety of styles and our tastes are very eclectic. We usually aren't excited about genre pieces (horror, children's, romance, etc.) unless they're really unique and strongly written. We recommend reading a past issue of EDGE.

• Submissions accepted September 1st through November 15th, 2012.
• Send up to 6 poems or 5,000 words of prose.
• Novel excerpts should be self-contained.
Sample issues of journal can be purchased for $12.
• Contributors receive one issue of the journal.
• Simultaneous submissions are okay; please label as such and let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere.
• Generally, we respond in 4-6 weeks, but it can be longer; please allow us at least a couple of months before querying.

submission guidelines:

• Use a 12 pt font, Times New Roman or Courier
• Double spaced
• Maximum word count is 5000
• We accept submissions online through submishmash ONLY.

what we're looking for . . .

Back "in the day" (2006 to be exact), Tahoe Writers Works was known as the Lake Tahoe Writing Club. The club had been using a Hunter S. Thompson quote for promotional efforts and we felt as though these words resonated the personality of the club. “The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.” These were the kind of authors we were seeking to attract—ones who take chances and might be a little too “over the edge” to be considered by other lit pubs. We wanted our publication to be different, and not follow the formulas and themes of other literary magazines. We aptly named our pub, "EDGE."
